Export only books you own
OpenKindl is intended for personal backup and conversion of books you own and have the rights to process. It does not grant rights in a book, audiobook, cover, or other copyrighted work. You are responsible for the permissions needed for your use.
Keep it personal
The draft restricts use to personal, non-commercial archiving. Do not distribute, publish, sell, or share exported books or generated audiobooks. Copyright remains with the respective rights holders.
Free backup, optional paid features
The product plan makes backup free forever. Optional audiobooks use tokens or a subscription; speed reader and karaoke visualiser each have 10 free uses before paid access. Final token allowances, subscription rates, billing terms, and refund terms will need to be stated before purchase.
Compatibility can change
Books, formats, devices, and third-party services can change. The draft offers the service “as is” and includes warranty and liability limits. Keep your originals and review exported files.
The draft needs reconciliation
The linked terms draft includes paid-license provisions and a broad “Give-to-Get” rights grant and assignment in section 5. Those provisions conflict with the current free-backup and personal-ownership product plan. They remain unresolved; this summary does not replace or silently amend that draft.
Independent of Amazon
OpenKindl is not affiliated with Amazon or Kindle. Amazon, Kindle, and related trademarks belong to Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
